The Cooper School Daily

Week of May 1st

It has been an action-packed week in First Grade! This week, we went on two field trips, participated in Pass It On, and continued our Author Expert Research. Read on for all the latest news from this week in First Grade.

Rock Climbing

This month in Social Emotional Learning First Graders have been learning all about the power of perseverance! On Monday & Wednesday our students put their perseverance to the test at James Island County Park’s Climbing Wall. We loved seeing our brave First Graders use their critical thinking, teamwork, and endurance skills as they helped one another navigate up and down the wall.

Author Study

Students have been working hard on completing their research for our Author Expert Study! On May 22nd, students will be sharing all they have learned about their authors and their published works at our final First Grade presentation. Students will be invited to dress as their author or a favorite character from their authors series. We are looking forward to hosting all First Grade families at this fun celebration of learning!

Pass it On

On Thursday evening elementary school students and families gathered for The Cooper School’s annual Pass It On event! This heartfelt evening was filled with laughter and tears of joy as students shared with the audience poems they wrote for this year’s edition of Pass It On. All proceeds from sales of the Pass It On books will benefit Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary, a local dog & cat rescue dedicated to caring for animals in need across the lowcountry.
