The Cooper School Daily

Week of September 12th

Autumn is in the air! First Graders enjoyed a fun-filled week searching for insects in our backyard, exploring new math topics, and meeting soccer players from the Charleston Battery.

Insect Walk

Adventure awaits in our school backyard! With partners, students found insects in various habitats and recorded their findings on a dry erase board. After our search students drew and labeled illustrations of their discoveries.

Data Collection

First Grade mathematicians are hard at work collecting and organizing data on various topics! Students explored sorting objects by attribute and designing survey questions to ask their peers. Below, Arden sorts her collection by size by creating piles of small, medium, and large objects.

A Visit from the Charleston Battery

On Wednesday, The Cooper School hosted players from the Charleston Battery soccer team! The athletes shared stories and got the students excited for their chance to be player liaisons on Friday, September 23rd. As player liaisons, students will get the opportunity to walk hand in hand with the athletes onto the field before the game. To secure a ticket for this exciting event please contact Kayla Sewell at kaylasewell@thecooperschool.org.
