The Cooper School Daily

Week of September 19th

This week First Graders dove deeper into math, began Choir practice, and enjoyed fun filled days together! Each day brings new surprises and discoveries as we explore further into our units of study and learn more about one another.

Math Stories

First Grade detectives went on a hunt on Thursday to find Story Problems around the room! Working with partners, students searched the classroom to read and solve a collection of problems. Next, students utilized their story sequencing skills to create and solve their own unique word problems.

Guest Readers

This Fall, we will be welcoming families to campus on Wednesday mornings as Guest Readers! Keep your eye out for a Sign Up Genius invitation detailing dates and time slots available to visit campus. These will be “Mystery” Reader opportunities where families can surprise their student with a favorite book at Morning Meeting.

Choir

First Graders loved attending our very first Choir practices this week! Mr. Alton led our students in singing classical ballads, practicing breath work, and voice modulation exercises. Students are invited to perform a “performance ready” piece each week if they so choose! If your child would like to perform a piece for choir please practice at home and send in accompanying sheet music for Mr. Alton to play on the piano.
