Kindergarteners Are Mathematicians!
Students spent the week wrapping up their first unit practicing numbers to 5. Kindergarteners have had so much fun keeping count of everything in our classroom! Students have spent so much time practicing writing each number and were thrilled to learn all about the number 0 and where it falls in the number line! Students are so excited to practice new numbers and continue adding more tools into their math belts!

Proud Pumpkins
We kicked off our Pumpkin Unit this week by bringing in pumpkins to build a Pumpkin Patch in our very own classroom! Students have spent the week practicing sorting the pumpkins by size, color, and weight. Our class was so thrilled to learn all about the different purposes of a pumpkin as well as its life cycle. We cannot stop talking about how excited we are for our upcoming Pumpkin Patch study trip!

Brain Science
Students spent the week discussing the brain and what controls different parts of their body. We talked about the amygdala, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex. Students focused on the prefrontal cortex and its effect on having a calm mindset for thoughtful decision-making. Kindergarteners related to one another by all having remembered a time where their feelings were hurt and then discussed different calming strategies for when they are feeling upset. We are so proud of our brave and growing Kindergarteners.

We Are Readers! Parade
Kindergarteners have mastered reading some of our classroom favorites by hearing and repeating the stories, analyzing the pictures, and connecting each page with exciting storyteller language. Students are bursting with pride and capped off their week with a “We Are Readers!” Parade through The Cooper School while older peers cheered them on.
