What Time is it?

Author Study

Students spent their week wrapping up their author research and wrote their author inspired stories. They took ideas from their favorite authors and used them as inspiration to create their own spin-off! First graders are very creative as they have wowed us with their amazing stories. Students focused on creating characters, settings, details, a problem, a solution, and an ending. We cannot wait for you to read them!

What time is it?

Next time you are wondering what time is, ask your first grader! This week we introduced time to them. They learned what a digital and an analog clock is. They also learned that an analog clock has two hands. The shorter hand shows the hour and the longer hand shows the minutes. First graders can also draw a time on an analog clock if you tell them a time! Students enjoyed playing games using white boards while practicing their skills.

Plantation Singers

This week we were lucky enough to be visited by The Plantation Singers! The Plantation Singers are a Gullah and spiritual acapella group. The singers performed an amazing performance for us with an interactive show for the whole school! We learned the importance, history and meaning of each song we sang and enjoyed practicing our Gullah Geechee double clap!
