Winter Holiday Celebrations

Winter Holidays

Each morning this week, Cooper School students came together for whole-school morning meeting to learn about winter holidays, with a focus on the music of each respective holiday. These holidays included Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, St Lucia, and Winter Solstice. Kindergarteners continued their learning of these holidays in our classroom during read-aloud, by creating crafts like a Kwanzaa IMG_0845mat and a St. Lucia Day crown, and participating in holiday centers. Students were bakers baking and decorating gingerbread men, created patterns with cookie cutters for wrapping paper, played with gingerbread play dough, and made a picture frame ornament. Ask your child what their favorite winter holiday is.

Second Grade Visitors

On Wednesday, Kindergarteners were delighted to have Second graders visit our classroom to do a readers theatre of their favorite Mem Fox book, Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge. After their performance, Second graders partnered up with a Kindergartener to read a Mem Fox book to them individually. It was exciting and fun to watch your young kindergartener listen to their Second grade friends read to them.  IMG_0835

Pajama Project

Thank you TCS families for contributing warm pajamas for the Carolina Youth Development Center! The Cooper School donated many pairs of pajamas this year! CYDC has been caring for kids in the Lowcountry and coastal South Carolina for over 220 years. We are proud to support such a wonderful cause.

To conclude our pajama drive, we celebrated by getting comfortable in our own cozy clothes. Students had a fun day filled with exciting holiday read alouds, holiday inspired learning centers, and a sparkling candy cane hunt. We hope you have a beautiful and happy holiday season!
