Wrapping Up Butterflies!

Wrapped Up in a Chrysalis
This week, Kindergarteners were excited to return to our classroom to our caterpillar friends wrapped up tightly in their chrysalises. Students were delighted to greet them after the long break and make detailed observations, making note of changes in their size, shape and color. Students even noticed that the critters had eaten even more of their food before bundling up. We eagerly await the day that they will emerge as butterflies so that send them off into the world with well wishes!

Show and Tell Pattern Books
This week, young writers were thrilled to build upon their knowledge of show and tell writing by turning our classroom into a book factory! Students spent time writing show and tell pattern books about the people, places, and things that matter to them! Writing energy was high as students wrote show and tell  books that they wanted to share with their classmates.

Come On Down To Shape Town
Kindergarteners have begun our investigation of two-dimensional shapes. Students started the week by identifying shapes by the number of sides and corners. Students were even challenged to look for similarities in color and size! We were impressed as Kindergarteners began moving through our room identifying all of the shapes they could find in their real world, from our square windows to our circular tables. We are so proud of these brave mathematicians!
