Morning Connection and Social-Emotional Learning

Our mornings begin with a warm and welcoming Morning Meeting, where students gather to share their thoughts, ideas, and personal stories. It’s a time for connection and setting a positive tone for the day. Morning Meeting is also where we explore social-emotional learning, a fundamental part of our day.

Math Exploration and Problem-Solving

After Morning Meeting, we dive into math, where students discover the beauty of numbers and problem-solving. Math isn’t just about equations; it’s about unraveling real-world challenges and finding creative solutions. As our young mathematicians explore, they build a strong foundation for critical thinking and numerical literacy.

Connection Outdoors

Our first outdoor break and snack of the day recharges our physical energy and strengthens the bonds of friendship and community, reinforcing the joy permeating every aspect of our progressive school experience.

The Enchanting World of Reading and Writing

Back inside, next comes the enchanting world of reading and writing. Our students embark on literary adventures, exploring captivating stories and crafting their own tales. Reading isn’t just a skill; it’s a magical gateway to new worlds and ideas. Writing isn’t just about letters and words; it’s a powerful tool for self-expression and creativity.

Social Studies: Journey Through Time and Cultures

In social studies, our students journey through time and cultures, exploring the rich tapestry of human history. They work to understand and appreciate the world’s diversity. Students learn about geography, biomes, societies, customs, and traditions, fostering a deep global awareness.

Science: Observing, Investigating, Discovering

Science is an ongoing adventure at our school, a journey of observation, investigation, and discovery. In our science classes, students become young scientists, asking questions, conducting experiments, and uncovering the wonders of the natural world.

Lunch and Recess: More Than Just Breaks

Lunch and recess are not just breaks but opportunities to unwind, play, and bond with friends. Our nature-based playground becomes a hub of activity where students engage in games, explore nature, and enjoy the camaraderie of their peers.

Hands-On Project Work

Project Work is where students take the reins of their learning. They dive into hands-on, real-world projects that ignite their curiosity and passion. Whether exploring history and culture or solving community issues, our students are active learners and problem solvers.

Special Areas: Creative and Physical Exploration

The afternoon is the time for a Special Area, either Art, Music, P.E., World Language, or Choir, where students continue their journey of exploration and self-expression in various creative and physical domains.

Reflection Outdoors

Our third time outdoors for play and snack marks a delightful continuation of our day. This break offers a moment of respite and a chance for students to reflect on the rich experiences of the day, fostering a deep sense of belonging and an enduring appreciation for the community we’ve created together.

Conclusion: A Day of Wonder and Growth

As the day draws to a close, our Lower Schoolers leave with a sense of wonder and a love for learning, ready to face each day with enthusiasm and curiosity, knowing that every moment is an opportunity for growth and exploration.
