First Grade Entomologists!

Publishing Our Insect Books

This week first graders have learned so much about each of their insects. As our insect presentation is approaching, first graders have been working hard to publish their final insect topic books.  They are “writing for readers” by using their best handwriting, drawing neat and detailed science illustrations, adding keywords to their glossary, and creating an eye-catching title page. We are over the moon with excitement about their presentations!

Mercy the Porcine Wonder!

First graders have loved our daily read alouds of the Mercy Watson series by Kate DiCamillo.

Mercy Watson is a butter and toast loving porcine wonder and our super readers can’t get enough! This week, first graders finished their last book of the series but quickly checked out copies to read on their own during our independent reading time.

Learning New Games!

This week we enjoyed the beautiful weather and learned some new games in the outdoor classroom!  Our favorite game was ‘Poison-Dart-Frog’ ! This game taught us how to work together, take turns, and track the speaker!
