Fun In Third Grade !!!!

Art

As part of their Change Makers projects, students worked with Ms. Henslee last week on portraits of their chosen changemaker for our upcoming presentation on November 3rd. Our scholars put on their finishing touches this week and are finally done. Our class has been thrilled to explore so many creative ways to piece together their final projects.

Changemakers

Third Graders are still working hard on their Changemakers. Students focused hard on finding important dates in their changemakers’ lives. Students found ten dates that stood out to them and are creating a timeline about their changemaker. We can’t wait to share these with you!

Math

This week in math our mathematicians focused on learning how to calculate the area of ungridded figures made of rectangles. This included rectangles with missing side lengths. Our scholars were able to divide these figures into three or more shapes and figure out the area of each rectangle. Students were amazed to learn that not all measurements need to be given and that some lengths can be determined given the rectangular structure.
