Last Week of September!

Publishing Our First Stories

First grade has been working hard on publishing their small moment (personal narrative) stories! Writers have learned all about the steps of the writing process and are making sure they are “writing for readers.”  We are checking closely for punctuation, capital letters, finger spaces, and making sure we write down all the sounds we hear in words. We are so excited to celebrate our hard work by reading our stories to Third Grade reading buddies at the end of the week!

Solving Story Problems

First Grade mathematicians have spent this week solving story problems and playing math games that focus on writing equations.  While solving story problems, students take notice of what they know and what they  need to find out and then use different strategies to solve the unknown with a matching numerical expression.  We are so proud of their hard work!

Insect Museum Flourishing

First graders have been filling our classroom with amazing insects from home and in school! We’ve enjoyed seeing what students bring in and what we find on the playground. Students have also continued to watch changes in their mealworms as they continue to grow and change through their lifecycle!

Important Dates:

  • October 3 – Rescheduled Picture Day
  • October 9-10 – Fall Break (no school)
