This Week in First Grade

Our first full week of First Grade has been a blast! We were so excited to start our new science unit, attend all our Specials, and celebrate our very first birthday circle.  We are having so much fun playing and learning with our first grade friends!

Healthy Habits!

In our first week of science we learned about how to make healthy choices and what our bodies and brains need to grow.  Each friend created their own My Plate with their favorite healthy food choices in each food group. We also had so much fun measuring our heart rates after exercising.  We love having healthy habits!

Brave Writing!

Our first graders are learning how to be brave writers! They began their personal narrative stories by brainstorming all the small moments in their own lives and then making a story plan with their writing partners. We loved celebrating all of their small moments!

Counting with Math Tools!

We had so much fun using our math tools to practice counting and writing our own number sentences.  Our mathematicians love using lots of different counting strategies to add and subtract! We were amazed to see how many different number sentences can add up to the same number!

Thank you for an awesome 2nd week! Hope to see you at Curriculum Night!

Important dates:

  • Aug 30th: Curriculum Night 5:30-6:30pm (Parents Only)
