Another Extraordinary Week in Fourth Grade!

Writing

Students are eagerly wrapping up their second story of the year! Our young authors have developed a deep understanding of what elements they need to draft a well crafted story. As they get to explore new settings, characters, and themes, using inspiration from the world around them and letting their imaginations run free. Students were assigned the task of finishing their realistic fiction stories last week, and were able to share these stories with the class. The class is proud to see their growth as writers just from the short time since their first stories.

Reading

Fourth graders have started a new reading unit this week! Students are diving into the world of mystery novels. The class has started a new read aloud book to have class discussions, as well as been separated into book clubs to independently read and share their theories in a group setting. This unit focuses on making predictions, reading thoughtfully to identify what the core mystery of the story is, and what role characters play.

Social Studies

As fourth graders have wrapped up their fascinating human body science unit, there’s excitement in the class as they transition into a new social studies adventure: economics! In this unit, students will study concepts like supply and demand, wants versus needs, and consumers versus producers. Through critical thinking and hands-on learning, students will gain a deeper understanding of how communities and society function.
