Prideful Published Poets

Published Poems
This week, Kindergarteners put the finishing touches on the poems that they will be publishing in The Cooper School’s Pass It On book. Over the past couple of weeks, Kindergarteners have been working hard writing so much poetry! From all of their hard work, Kindergarteners looked through and selected two poems that they were most proud of. We are so proud of all of the growth Kindergarteners have shown in writing this year!

Author Study
Kindergarten Readers were thrilled to begin an author study as they returned from Spring Break. We spent time this week learning about Donald Crews, an accomplished author and illustrator. Students discovered that Donald Crews wrote both fiction and nonfiction books and has even won a Caldecott Medal! Our class couldn’t wait to get their hands on Donald Crews’ books and discover all of the different topics that he writes about.

Self-Regulation
As we wrap up our SEL strand of self-regulation during this interesting year, Kindergarteners were thrilled to receive calming glitter jar gifts from their Third Grade Buddies. Third Graders attached thoughtful notes to explain the purpose of the calming jar and how to use it. Kindergarteners spent time practicing using these new tools a calming technique and were inspired to write poetry all about them!
