Puppeting Around

Persuasive Writing
Kindergarten writers have been busy writing up a storm in our persuasive unit! These writers have discovered the formula for sharing their opinions and convincing others. These young writers know that in order to convince someone, they need to give lots of reasons in their writing. Students collaborated on a shared writing to create a petition to help keep the backyard clean at The Cooper School. These young scholars were delighted to use their new knowledge to write letters to make change.

Puppet Factory
In our classroom, we have explored all different kinds of puppets from marionettes to Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade floats! Using all that they have learned, students have begun creating some puppets of their own with Ms. Henslee in Art. Students were excited to be given the freedom to create a puppet of their choosing;  human, animals, or other! We look forward to using these puppets to enhance our storytelling!

The Mouse and the Motorcycle
This week, students couldn’t wait to finish up our latest Read Aloud, The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary. Students have been listening on the edge of their seats as Ralph, a sweet mouse living in a small motel, gets his paws on a toy motorcycle. Avoiding dogs, cleaners, and guests, Ralph gets himself (and his new friend Keith) into a lot of trouble. Students loved rooting for Ralph as he became quite a hero!
