Splish! Splash! Boom!

Properties of Water

This week in science we launched our water investigation! Scientists observed properties of water, surface tension and studied water on a slope. Third graders learned water forms a dome on a flat surface, surface tension makes water form a dorm and when soap is added to water it reduces its surface tension. Today, during our water dome races, scientists noticed that water flows down a slope and bigger domes of water move down a slope faster! Next week we will study hot and cold water. img_1673

Publishing Party

On Thursday, Second Graders came to listen to our class publish our personal narrative stories! Third Grade authors wrote true stories, focusing on a person or place that matters to them. Writers practiced bringing out their “internal story” by recording what they wondered, noticed or thought. Writers added details by adding action and including dialogue. In celebration of becoming published authors, both classes ate lunch together and enjoyed a sweet treat! Bravo, writers!
