A Fun Filled Week!

Solar Eclipse!

WOW! Did you guys watch the solar eclipse? First grade spent the beginning of our week learning all about  the solar eclipse. We learned that a total eclipse happens when the moon passes between the sun and the Earth and completely blocks the face of the sun. Thanks to our middle school friends they showed us what a partial eclipse will look like and the difference between a total and partial eclipse. We loved ending our day watching the sun disappear with our glasses. We hope everyone got a chance to see it too!

Prepping Our Art!

First graders are so excited to share their hard working art projects with their family and friends next week (April 19th)! To help us prep our work we took extra time this week to finish our self portraits. Self portraits help us see our classmates through their eyes. We used mirrors to see ourselves and played with skin color and water colors to create our artwork. We can’t wait to show off our skills to you!

Masters of Measurement!

First grade kicked off their new unit of math by studying nonstandard units of measurement. We learned that when we follow the rules of measurement, we can measure with anything! This week we measured and compared the lengths and widths of different items using string, connecting cubes, and paperclips!
