SEL

We have officially moved into our new SEL unit: Independence. As our class gets closer to being middle schoolers, we think this unit is a wonderful way to prepare them for the more freedom they will start to have in the coming years. With this unit, we hope to give them the confidence to make the best decisions for themselves and for others.

Field Trip

4th graders had their American Revolution field trip this week! On Monday, our historians trekked downtown to the Charleston Old Exchange, the Powder Magazine and the Heyward Washington House to see firsthand how our town was impacted and involved in the American Revolution. We hope this insight into the past further inspired them for their upcoming project presentations.

Author Visit

4th grade had a very special guest visit today. Mr. Kenneth Francis is a children’s book author best known for his series, Going on a Walk with Papa. As the 4th graders are in the process of writing their own children’s books, Mr. Kenneth walked them through his story writing process by reading his book to them and pausing to explain how and why he created each page, from the pictures to the words. Students loved telling Mr. Kenneth about their own families and learning about his!
