Persistent 4th Graders

Science

4th Grade geologists started the experiment portion of their Earth’s feature unit this week. They are looking at the impact of weathering and erosion on rocks and how that affects the structure and image of their fictional national park. They also created their own fossils by layering play-do sediment and casting a dinosaur inside.

SEL

This week marks the beginning of our final SEL unit: persistence. As the year comes to a close, we use this time to encourage students to keep trying their best until the very end. They are learning new affirmations to keep their minds positive when they feel like giving up.

Math

4th grade mathematicians learned how to use protractors this week! They have been estimating angles, but now they know how to perfectly line up the angle with the protractor and get that exact measurement of an angle. They also learned new vocab words such as obtuse, acute, and right angle!
