Total Eclipse

Poetry Muse

Last week, 4th grade started their Reading and Writing unit: Poetry Muse. Each student has chosen a poet that inspires them. They will research all about them, memorize one of their poems, and eventually write their own poem inspired by the one they memorized. This will become a mini-project that they will present to other classes!

Science

4th grade geologists have been analyzing different layers of sedimentary rock. Before the break, students tried to create their own fossils with sand, rocks, water, and a leaf. This week they got to dump their hardened creations to see if their strategy for fossilization worked! If only we had a thousand more years.

SEL

TCS has been practicing optimism for several weeks now. We always try to instill a positive mindset in our students, but it’s important to let them know it’s not realistic to always be positive. With this unit, we aim to teach them how to find good things when they’re having a hard time.
