A Busy Week in Second Grade!

Authors Writing Letters to Authors!

Second Graders visit Caw Caw!

In social studies, our class is learning about Kiawah Indians. We are studying how native people lived in and around our area. On Thursday, our class took a field trip to Caw Caw Interpretive Center. Here, Scholars had the opportunity to see the different kinds of berries, plants, weapons, and animal fur that the Kiawah people used. Scholars even got to see the steps that are taken to make a fire using four materials!

Happy Hanukkah!

Second graders are learning about the celebration of Hanukkah. Students have learned how to play dreidel, the traditions of Hanukkah, and the reason for celebration! This week we had a special guest come visit our classroom to teach us more about Hanukkah. Together we sang a Hanukkah prayer while lighting the menorah, talked about the history of Hanukkah, and even ate Hanukkah treats!
